Transportation Update

Transportation staff has been assessing road conditions across the county in the days following Hurricane Milton. There are many inaccessible roads primarily in east and central 蜜桃传媒. Please be aware that there will be delays and other impacts countywide as Transportation relocates over 100 bus stops for over 1,000 students. Additionally, we may have to utilize alternative routes that are much longer than usual. We will communicate any delays as we become aware of them. 

We will also be contacting the family of any bus rider whose stop will need to be relocated in a separate call/text/e-mail.

蜜桃传媒 is in the process of reopening following the impact of Hurricane Milton.

• Staff will return Tuesday, October 15, for a teacher planning day to prepare for the return of students.
• Students will return to class on Wednesday, October 16.
• PLACE will reopen on Tuesday, October 15.
• Athletics and after-school programs will resume this week as safety conditions allow. Individual schools will provide more detailed updates to their families.
• If you have concerns about your child's grades or missing assignments due to the storm, please reach out to your child’s teacher through the MyStudent app. Teachers will work with you to address these concerns.
• The 蜜桃传媒 board meeting will proceed as scheduled tomorrow evening.

As our community continues to recover from Hurricane Milton, 蜜桃传媒 will remain closed on Monday. We are closely monitoring conditions across the county, including hazardous road conditions, floodwaters, and fuel shortages.

A decision regarding Tuesday’s closure will be announced by noon tomorrow (Monday, October 14). We understand this is a challenging time, and we appreciate your patience and support as we prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and families.

Our thoughts are with all families affected by Hurricane Milton. As our community recovers, 蜜桃传媒 will be closed on Monday due to ongoing power outages, dangerous road conditions, and countywide fuel shortages affecting school transportation.

We encourage families to prioritize safety during this time. Please follow local guidance, avoid flooded areas, and conserve fuel as much as possible.

We will provide an update tomorrow (Sunday 10/13) regarding the status of schools for Tuesday. Please continue to check this website and your email for further updates.

We hope that every member of our school community is safe as we all work through the damage and disruption caused by Hurricane Milton.

The District continues its efforts to assess damage to its schools and facilities due to Hurricane Milton. As of 5:00 pm today (Friday, October 11, 2024):

• We continue to assist with sheltering operations for members of the 蜜桃传媒 County community.
• Roughly one-third of our schools are still without power.
• Staff continues to clear storm debris from almost all of our campuses.
• Flooding within our county and around several schools remains a concern.
• Many areas within the county have been partially or entirely isolated due to damage to roads and other critical infrastructure.

Efforts are ongoing to resume normal operations of our schools next week, and we plan to provide an update on our efforts to our staff and families by the end of the day tomorrow (Saturday, October 12, 2024).

 is issuing a mandatory evacuation for Zone C in 蜜桃传媒 County as Hurricane Milton approaches Florida.  Life-threatening storm surge and hurricane force winds are expected to impact 蜜桃传媒 County later this week.

蜜桃传媒 is also opening an additional shelter, Tuesday, October 8 at 9:00 a.m.:

• Sunlake High School,  Land O’ Lakes

10/7/24 at 12:05 p.m.

All Schools and District Offices will now be closed to the public, and all events and activities will be cancelled through Friday, October 11, 2024.

蜜桃传媒 has announced that all schools and district offices will be closed through Friday of this week due to the upgrade of Tropical Storm Milton to a major hurricane. The district's priority is the safety of students, staff, and the community.

All other school activities, athletic events, and extracurricular programs are also canceled through Friday. 蜜桃传媒 will remain in close communication with local emergency management and continue to monitor the situation as the storm approaches.

Due to the closure of schools this week, students will now attend school Monday through Friday of next week. Monday and Tuesday were previously identified as teacher planning and training days. Students will now be off on Monday, October 21, 2024, for teacher planning.

Families and staff are encouraged to complete their storm preparations and follow the guidance from local emergency management officials. The district will provide updates as needed, and information will be shared through the district website and social media channels.

蜜桃传媒 County is opening hurricane shelters for anyone who needs to leave their home ahead of Hurricane Milton and has nowhere else to stay.  All shelters are accepting family pets.

(Updated 10/4/24) 蜜桃传媒 will be closed on Monday through Friday of this week in response to Tropical Storm Milton, which is expected to strengthen into a hurricane and may make landfall in our area. The safety of our students, staff, and community is our top priority.

As a precaution, all before and after-school activities, athletic events, and extracurricular programs are also canceled until further notice. The district is in constant communication with 蜜桃传媒 County Emergency Management and will continue to monitor the storm’s progress.

We encourage all families to begin storm preparations now and to follow the guidance of local emergency officials. Please stay tuned to the district website and social media channels for updates and further information.
